24 SeaBird?
 

Saw this for sale and almost thought I found a 25 Seafari. Not well studied on SeaBirds but she has quite the deep entry for a 24 footer of that era. Not a SeaCraft but I bet she rides good.

Nice boats...24 degree deadrise...I like that super sport model with the high cap and windows!
I looked at one with a flat cap cuddy but had rot and an old omc stringer outdrive.


They have balsa cored hulls
Go pick it up but for half of asking price!

I owned the same hull, different cap, for a decade, many trips to the Bahamas. Agree that the pictured model is extra nice. The cabin must be much like the Seafari. Good boat in a lot of ways, good ride, but the ride wasn't even close to my 25 or Moose's Septre. and yes, they are entirely balsa cored, makes a strong boat that is very quiet to sleep on, but water in the core finally killed mine.

Check with CSC member "scottm" he owned a Seabird and knows the straight skinny on the hull & construction;)

I had a '72 CC that was converted to an OB. The guy I bought it from brought it up to the Cape from Florida. Had a 225 Johnson looper (the cover is from a 200) and ran great with that power - 25-27 knot cruise and 35 knot top end. I sold it back in '08 and word is she went down to the Florida panhandle. The hull is balsa cored as are the decks and cap, so water intrusion is a big issue. She'll roll a little more than a SC 23 due to the 24-degree deadrise, but she'll eat up the chop with the bow down. One of the sexiest boats I've seen in the CC configuration. She always turned heads wherever I went and she wasn't even close to perfect. With a total resto it would have been a pretty bad ass boat.

The liner on all configurations was the same...Seabird merely dropped a different cap on top to change the model. If you unbolted the cabin top off the one kmoose posted, you'd have the makings of a CC in no time.

Totally agree about the looks. That is about the prettiest, sexist boat I know of. Looking at it always gave me a little thrill. I'm not sure she would roll more than a 23 SC. The center of gravity of the 1/0 model is low. Mine was extremely stable for a 24 degree deadrise hull.

Its in the catagory as a bertram and formulas with a 24* deadrise. Those are a few that were of the Ray Hunt design. Great head on rough sea boat.

Respectfully quibble on the head sea ride. The Seabird's is good, but not in the same class as a Bertram or a 23 Formula. I've owned the Bert 25, a Seabird 24 and a Seacraft Seafari 25, and spent a lot of time in other diver's 23 Formulas. The Bert is hard to compare, 24 degree deadrise, but a much bigger heavier boat. The head sea ride of a Formula 23 or Seafari 25 is much much better than the Seabird.

good lookin boat, kinda a cross of an early donzi cc bow ,maybe a wellcraft...and a sea craft aft end ,those 22 Hilners also had a great hull to ride on.Love the Classics..
