Marine surplus Sarasota any good?

In my never ending quest for comfortable helm and port seats,I came across a few on EBAY.
The seller was Marine Surplus out of Sarasota, and was wondering if they are good to deal with.Anyone have experience with them?

I am having the hardest time finding seats that I find comfortable enough.Maybe I'm too picky.I just bought two Springfield ladder back seats at Defenders warehouse sale for $500.00(pair) they felt good at the store, but now that I have them home I'm finding them to not be all that comfortable. The quality is very nice, but the back seems to straight, and the seat could be a couple inches wider, and longer.
I'm willing to spend 300.00 per seat, but I'm starting to think that isn't enough.I see seats for over a thousand dollars. What in the world makes a seat even worth 250.00,never mind over a thousand.
Heck,I have a Lazy Boy recliner at home that cost less than four hundred bucks and it gets used constantly, and its still very comfortable and in perfect shape.

Maybe I should have it covered in white vinyl, and put it in the Tsunami.

They are located not far from me. I buy a modest amount of stuff from them. no problems, at all. One of the guys there is very knowledgeable about engines. He has helped me a lot.

You need a pair of Stidd helm seats, the most comfortable thing you ever set your @ss on and will only set you back 10k+

Only 10K ? I gotta run out and get a pair of them.LOL .I do wonder though why they are so expensive.I understand they're more of a specialty product, and that in comparison to household furniture they don't produce as many so the margins have to be higher, and having owned boats all of my life, I get the fact of higher costs, but I think all of them are way over priced

The right foot rest combined with proper height makes all the difference in the world with helm chairs. I went through a couple and ended up a with cheap Todd with no armrests. After I solved the foot rest and height issue the simplest helm chair worked the best.

Yup,you got that right.
I found that out when I put new seats in after the restoration.I tried the seats out in the garage by placing them up on five gallon buckets etc,and I wasn't crazy about the way it felt.
But,once we got them set at height in the boat and got the foot rests in a proper height, It really did make a world of difference. they were a much more comfortable fit.

It's funny, everyone on my boat loves to sit in the cheapest seat. It's a folding canvas camp/lawn chair that I got at Costco for about 15.00 bucks.
It's on the port side, about in the middle of the boat.We all know that the ride in the Tsunami's/Sceptre's are great in the rough, but that seat in the middle is the best when its snotty.

I pulled a couple of Todd chairs out of my 25. If you want to try them, you can. I may or may not reinstall them this year. But I know how backs are, and if they did the trick, I am sure I can make an affordable price for them for you. I usually stand anyways.

I would be surprised if they were "just right", but the offer is there if you want to try them.

They are legit. Some things are full price and some things are at a discount. I have bought many things from them. I used a $50 credit last year I had from them that was issued in 2005!
