Picked up a 1 owner 79 GMC 2500 van with a 400sb and turbo 350 tranny today, has 142k original miles and the tranny was rebuilt last year, she was ordered with a heavy duty towing package to pull a 27 ft bayliner from North Ga to the Ga coast twice a year but only made 4 round trips then they sold the boat, been used as a 2nd family car for the past 20 years. I paid 1400 bucks for it! this thing is a beast!

What a find, post mileage pulling your boat, I'd like to compare it to one of my work trucks thats gas powered and a diesel powered truck.

For what you payed for it verses a new truck you can afford a lot of gas

YEP, a lot cheaper than a new truck!!!!His big azz bayliner weighed a good bit more than My 25 seafari so Im hoping its a little better than 10mpg

I had a 90 Suburban 3/4 ton 2 WD with a 350/400 turbo hydro....
It got 12 mpg towing or NOT!! :(

It was a great tow rig, but very thirsty.....
