Dump on the twin 150 oceanrunners for a single df300

Well Saturday was my last trip with the 2 strokes. I took 210 gallons of fuel and came home with 30gallons. 6 people with ice I averaged 3/4 mpg. 55nm is our fishing grounds and I can't get to 1000' of water. Suzuki 300 on the way. I'll keep you posted on the results. My boat is bracketed so it should work out perfect. I just have to figure if it's a 25" or 30" shaft.

On my '91, 25' old style bracketed Contender, I went from twin 25" 150 Yamaha Hpdis to a single 30" 225 Yammie 4 stroke. Fuel economy went from 1.6-1.8 to 2.2-2.6 mpg, depending on load and sea conditions. The boat is more sensitive to weight and seas compared to before.
Eventually will upgrade to a 300 hp. You should see close to 3.0 mpg in average conditions.
I have a twin engine Stainless Marine, which I did not move.
Mounted the engine at the highest setting, but it could still go up a few more inches; needs a small porta bracket or similar.

All single with brackets I've seen should be 30". Measure twice, cut once :)

I think it's a 25" shaft on single brackets. Check Hermco's posts and check out his web site for confirmation.

Good luck with the Suzuki 300, have had one for 4 years and love the performance and 3.1 mpg, not to mention the boat sits nice and flat in the water. I do not have a bracket and am using a 30 inch motor.

Go 30 if you can. Nice to have the power head out of the water, especially with the set back.

Where are you and what are your plans for the old motahs?
