Gas tank removal
 

two years ago I did a barter deal. I did some canvas on a guy old Bertram in trade for a Larson bowrider he had with a rebuilt motor he never got back in. so I got it running and redid all the carpet and upholstery and restriped it. I decided to sell it as soon as I was done and replace my motor on the seacraft the Larson had a pos trailer that I soon got rid of and when I was selling the Larson I had to make a deal with my secrafts trailer so I found a deal on craigslist but it had a junk boat on it so in order to dump it I have to remove the tank motor and O/D is gone I pulled the floor hatch had to cut the bulkhead and wood around the tank and dared to drill a hole int he tank to hook a come along and finally got it raised not totally out yet but wow. I totally respect you guys that have pulled a tank ant not destroyed the boat .

And after all that you can get $20 for it from a scrap metal dealer (if you figure out how to get rid of the gas/varnish mix first). Works out to about $0.15/hr after expenses :D

I have a metal recycle center right in the same park as my shop. I got money for a few things. Last was my old metal cradle for my boat lift after i replace it with aluminum.

I pulled the tank on my old Chris Craft scorpion years ago. What a crazy scene. I used 2x4s across the deck and a car jack. When the tank finally popped out I was half way surprised my buddy and I were not only alive but also in good shape (although a little shaken). Someday I know I am going to have to replace the tank on my 18' SC but I think I'm gonna wait a little longer...
