Classic vs Newer?
 

Aside from being a "classic", what defines the Potters from the newer boats and are the newer boats worth having? Did tracker take them over from Potter or was there something in between?

I have Fred Archibald's first slo poke hull, but need a larger boat for my family and I'm considering the MA or Mako 19 or 20 footers. If Mako, it would likely be pre1989.

I thought bringing Mako into the discussion might provide some valid comments on the comparison. It appears that the Mako 20 draws 9 inches, while the MA 20 takes 12. How shallow can the MA run?

Get the Mako. Seacraft hulls aren't for skinny water. Makos aren't for rough water. They are pretty opposite hull designs. I have a 20 MA.

I'm thinking a Carolina Skiff is what he is looking for. Will float in 5" to 6" and knock your gonads off in 1' chop!!

To answer your question, it will run as shallow as you want to go, or until you run a ground!
