Well after 41 years I think my 1973 20sf needs a new transom!! Its flexing quite a bit these days

Jason you are in line for the understatement award for today!! If you decide to document your transom replacement I'll move this thread to the repairs section. Good luck!!

Agreed., transom needs some serious help.

well as you can see the transom is completely done. So its time for to replace it and raise it 5". The question I have is does any body here have a ball park figure on cost of the material to rebuild it. the reason I ask is I have a couple #'s from boat builders/repair guys here in dirty jersey and I'm just wondering if their #'s are real high. It will be composite, no wood in the transom. And I will be removing the engine and all the goodies for who ever does the job. Any thoughts would be very helpful, thanks

Perhaps move this thread to the proper section if necessary?

Well Jason now that you are starting your rebuild your thread is on it's way to repairs/mods. Keep us posted with lots of pics! Good luck and have fun. :)

I paid $2200, in 2012, for my dad's '73 CC OB, in the Newport News, VA area. It wasn't the prettiest job, but only a critical eye would know that!

How about pouring a new composite transom with SeaCast or similar?
