Transom Build Question

The transom on my 23 has been redone and raised to 30 inches, from the inside.

Now i'm wanting to go with Hermco bracket and close the transom.

Is there any real way to "fill in" the notch, safely and structurally? I hate to cut out all the solid work i've already done.

Thoughts?

you could probably spice in a new core piece. How about a picture?

Don filled in the notch on my original transom, which he said was the driest transom he'd ever seen on a '72 vintage boat! Why don't you send him a PM. If you're thinking about buying one of his brackets, I'm sure he'd be glad to advise you on best way to do it!
