79 Sceptre with bracket transom replacement

It all started when I removed the twins to begin prepping the hull for painting. I pulled the rear vents out and noticed the fiberglass delaminated. Broke out the sawzall and cut the cap off. Poked around with a screwdriver and the transom is rotten. Fast forward 16 hours later and got the rotten, wet, heavy plywood out. I need to sand and grind for new core. Coosa will be my choice. My hope is the boat will not be as stern heavy. I know I'll be lighter for sure! I'll be working late nights after work to get this transom done, re-rigged and the hull painted before March. And of course lets not leave out Mother Nature as I'll be working outside. Also my boat already has a bracket so I don't have to worry about that. I did notice a little deflection with the weight of the bracket on the transom with no core. I'll put some tension up under it to make sure my layup is level. Happy New year!

Hi Jeff-

First, Great news and tremendous Blessings regarding your daughter! So glad to hear she is in remission.

Good luck with the project. I grew up in HHI and will likely retire there, but Edisto is still one of my favorite vacation spots. Just wish I had bought down there before real estate sky rocketed.

I understand that you may have a donor 23 that you will be parting out. Not sure if you have plans for the hull after being parted, but may be interested if you are going to be getting rid of her.

I have the boat in my possession. I know a couplet people pm me about it and the person who's helping on my project is now a new Seacraft owner. The bug bit him square between the eyes!

And Thank you for your praises!

Hi Jeff,

Yes some amazing amazing miracles and blessings. A lot of smaller ones every day if we take the time to look.

I sent you a PM with my email so if you end up needing an option for the donor SC please let me know!

All the best with your resto project!
