Sf20 trolling motor

I am looking at getting a trolling motor for my sf20 with an inboard motor. I would like people's opinions on minimum thrust and shaft length. Also, I am curious as to what make/model trolling motor you prefer. All and any opinion are appreciated.

Looking now for my jon boat. Minn Kota has a guide on their site for weight vs thrust and bow to water measurement calculator.

i prefeer minn kota ... but the best i have seen so far is the minn kota copy rhodan... alot of the coastal guys here using them.. personaly i dont need the i pilotot gps anchor for my use ... but it would be a cool option when fishing a dock without having to anchor in current

Hands down the weapon of choice here in the Northwest is the yamaha 8hp High thrust Kicker. Electric tilt and trim in 25" shaft length.

I Know several in here are using that motor. It has been replaced 2 years ago by the Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust 4 stroke. IMHO not a better kicker motor out there. In the NW here, guys run them 8 to 12 hours a day for months at a time trolling for salmon with big Boats in the 4000 to 6000 lb range.

I have used that motor extensively the last 8 years and love it. Its the same engine i will be putting on the back of the 20' Seafari.

Good Luck
Robert

Guess i was thinking about a different trolling motor ... LOL we call that a kicker and use it when the main engine breaks ... you couldnt use that inshore for staying on a point or dock ...

In the process of getting their tiller, bow mount, SM series for my jon boat. The last one, and jon boat, just sold after 19 years mostly salt water. It was a fresh water model Minn Kota and was running fine. It's the only one I've owned but that sold me. They have a two year warranty and are very popular in this area.

Where you located?? I'm thinking of selling my Minn Kota 24v off my 22' Pathfinder. I have a spare Motorguide I want to put on.
