Hull ID Conundrum

I bought a 1979 20' Master Angler...the hull # is SECf00681079 Just trying to confirm the VIN. I used "search" for an hour for those that wondered :D

I know the SEC is Seacraft--- check

1. The "F0" I saw in one thread as being a SuperFish but I thought mine is a Master Angler..couldn't find anything definitive or does it actually mean the MA?

2. The 79 is normally titled for the next year by the time October hit but is still titled 1979, which also seems against the norm.

Just got me curious...

Thanks!

sec = seacraft
f = superfish
0 = 20'
068 = hull number
10 = October
79 = 1979

your 20' was hull 68 built October 1979, should be titled 1980 (After August) but who cares. I've witnessed many weird VIN's in the past.
Look hard, maybe the last number is a "8" not "9" ?

Does it have the raised cap? If not it's not a master angler.

I squinted but the title still states it as a 1979...go figure. I am not going to sweat it...the "F" I didn't see confirmed on any of the posts, which had me curious.

It very much looks like a MA :-)

thx

In his post, Capt. Chuck provided the following serial # info:
sec = seacraft
f = superfish
0 = 20'
068 = hull number
10 = October
79 = 1979
I bought my SF20 in May 73. Serial # SECF0153M73G
What is the significance of the letters M & G?

Thanks,

Jim

Squint at the Hull not the title!!!

I told you above "F" = Superfish

If you can post a picture , we'll confirm your SeaCraft a MA or not.... Here is a link to the '79 brochure if you can't. Which is yours???

I have posted and read several post confirming the "f" is a superfish. If yours has the raised cap and is open below the gunnels it could be a MA cap on a superfish, it could of be a change order, If a customer needs a MA and they are short on them They could of slapped a different cap on it and then it went out the door. I could of been changed after the fact of sale, no telling. My guess is at the factory they needed one more or several MA models and just used what they had and went with it.

I can look at my MA tonight but think mine says: SECM00320478 or something close to that

These were tow I found real quick but there were many post listed about hin decode

Thanks, thought it odd and never thought about a potential for a change mod but I guess anything could happen. Either way, it is getting redone and I will enjoy her regardless of her personality disorder.

thx again!
