Just curious. Anyone towing a 23 SC with a BMW X5? If so.........how does it make it?

Towing is one thing.... STOPPING is another !!

Bimmers usually have better brakes than most. Florida is dead flat. 6000 lbs seems to be the rating.

If it was a few miles, I'd do it. If it was 60, I'd get a pickup. Either way, the trailer will need brakes. I have electric brakes and they are amazing towing 8000 lb. Surge brakes towing 4000 is not nearly so impressive.

I tow 60 miles, so I got a cheap 2wd pickup. Not that I have an X5. I thought the 300 ft-lb 135i M package convertible would look good with a hitch, but it got vetoed.

I once towed my 18' SC to Key West with an S-10 Blazer with almost disastrous results.

I meant a *real* pickup. I got a old F250 for towing.

And towing over the rated capacity probably gets very exciting with the insurance company if anything does happen.

I towed my Tsunami with a full dive load for two years with an 04 Tacoma prerunner. It all depends how you drive.

It also depends on how the other guy drives. Down in the keys, lots of people like to pull out in front of you, then stop a couple hundred yards down the road and turn. That's what happened to me with a light rain falling in Islamorada some 35 years ago. Missed him by inches. Its a lot worse out there now. Ron.
