1975 23SF Repower
 

Thinking of repowering my 23 with a 300 etec or 300 Suzuki. Presently powered by a yammy 250 ox66 running a 17 pitch ss prop. Must say I'm leaning toward the etec. Advice and comments sought. Thanks

I have a 23 with a 300 Suzuki. My second one. I enjoy the quiet, performance and fuel mileage weighs in about 600 pounds and fly by wire controls.

I have a 1974 23cc still under the knife but getting close to being complete.. I just bought a 2012 f300 Yamaha 30" shaft with 64 hours on it.. Can't wait to see how this package will run..

If I had the money..........always seems to be a rather big issue. I'd put an eTec 250 HO G2 with a paint scheme to match my boat. Maybe it will help it's looks. I know it won't help mine!!

Please post results and performance either way. I have the same boat/OX66.

I don't know what kind of extra performance you expect from a 300HP given the cost difference with the 250HP :confused:

You will have all the torque, top end and GPH you want from the 250hp eTech. Stick with it and save the $$$$$....just my opinon.

I'd consider the G2 version of the E-TEC, probably the 250 HO version for a little lower cost but still plenty of power. Users are reporting that BRP is seriously sandbagging on the claimed fuel burn improvement! The advertized 15% reduction in fuel burn seems to be about right at WOT, but at cruise it seems to be more like 40%, which will put it well ahead of the 4-strokes! And while it's probably more expensive than the G1 models, it's really not that much heavier, when you consider that the weight numbers now include hydraulic power steering and a large oil tank.

Can't get used to the look of the G2 and I'm a bit fearful of any introduction of new tech - I like to give it a few years. Current promotions for G1 make it pretty cheap.

I can't get used to the look of Hillary either, however the G2 is much, much nicer!!!!!!! :)

Goes to show.....ugly is more than skin deep.

Committed to the 300 Etec. Installation next week. Can't wait.
