Whos Gonna Put the 400R Mercury on their 23'

The new 400R Verado at 658 lbs looks like the perfect weapon for the back of a 23' weigh to power ratio. I know some of the Guys have been putting on the 300 and 350 Yamahas.

I am not a Huge Merc Fan but a 400 HP Single has got to be the Shiznit on the back of a Sceptre or Super Fisherman.

Now whos going to be the First Guinea Pig?

First thing I'd have to do is hit the lottery in order to be able to buy that beast. At $31,500.00 it's a bit out of my price range.
It would be very interesting though to see the performance on the back of a 23,especially a sceptre/Tsunami with a bit more forward weight. After all,the capacity plate on my Tsunami says max hp is 500.
My I/O engine and outdrive weigh around 1,000lbs and I'm only getting about 260 hp out of it.
I can only imagine the performance with an extra 150 hp and less weight. For now,I'll just dream about it.

My Tsunami had 500 hp of 2 stroke power on the back of it at one time and it just doesn't work. The chine walk is so bad there is no using the extra ponies. I think anything more than 300 hp is a waste of money on the 23.

Squeezing 400 hp out of the same block you sell in a 250 sound like trouble to me. Just think, a straight 6, supercharged microblock engine with 2 of its cylinders below the water line..... No thanks

Whew!!!! thanks Moose you just saved me $31,000 Actually we always joke about the capacity plate on the Tsunami,

( 500hp and 14 people)

The only fourteen people on earth that would fill that bill would be in Ethiopia. And 500 hp?? i think not.
I see what you mean about squeezing all that hp out of that block.I wasn't aware that it was the same block as the 250,thanks for that info.

Started a post on this 2 years ago when they were doing tesing on this motor, May be alot on a 23' but would be a good fit for a seafari 25 or the big 27' seacraft tank

I know things change, and the older we get we lose of sense of price versus value...but man it is hard to wrap my mind around a $30k outboard .
