Recoring hatches

I will be recoring two hatches soon and want to use foam instead of wood for insulation and to never have to put wood back in the boat. I've always used poly resin for everything but if I use foam can I even use poly or do I have to go with epoxy since poly heats up and could melt the foam? Also what kind of foam do I need? I'll probably go one inch thick. Thanks.

would nida core be strong enough for this application? The hatch in question is the fish box hatch in the front of a 20 SF. Is there any insulation properties to this stuff as well? Thanks.

absolutely, stiffness come from the thickness of the core. I would use the 20mm core with a single layer of 1708 over top.

Its decent on R value, but not as good as most foam cores.

Thanks Shine, I checked your website but did not see it. Do you carry this product? Thank you.

lots a stuff you can use as a foam core,nida-core , diviniacell,coosa...this site will have the best.1708 will give it the strength, for a hatch..if you have to bolt or screw thru it,make it tougher than foam..!
