Advice needed...

Is this hull worth saving or should I find one that's been completely redone and rig it with what I have and sell this hull? Or bight the bullet and fix another classic? I know the transom needs to be done also. I'm guessing transom, deck, stringers, hull patched, & misc crap. I'm guessing paying someone $15,000 isn't going to get it done either. There are some other gouges that I found and that's without soda blasting the hull. Sorry for the rant. Frustrated badly.

It would be useful to know what the hull is. If you are gutting it then it should be relatively easy to fix that hole though.

1972 20' SF SeaCraft. Don't have the time or knowledge for a job like this. Never dealt with damage like this. Just concerned about the amount of $$$ it's gonna cost me to correct/fix everything.

There is enough knowledge available to you here that you can learn how to do it and I'm guessing it might not be quite as bad as you fear. 15k to do glass work yourself is a decent budget. No time is a very hard problem to fix though.

15000 is a high quote from one of the best repair shops in panama city ,that is for a 23 sf.. New deck new transom, new stringers, and paint,15000..again for a 23 sf
....I would say it would be an easy fix if you can get to the repair form the inside.. |
I spent three years working on my FJ40 and a lot of that was spent learning through trial and error. Then I just ran out of time to work on it. So I decided to send it off to get fixed/finished. If I worked five days a week local and had time to work on it I would. But I travel a lot for work and a lot of times its for 2-3 weeks at time. For now I'm gonna make some phone calls and see what it's gonna cost to have the work done and then go from there. Thanks and my apologies for the rants.

Where are you? If your in south Florida you should check with Parker yacht, hermco, or wildfire marine, in no particular order.

Forgot to post location. I'm in Boca Raton, FL (South Florida). Hermco quoted $15,000 for enclosed transom, bracket, deck, & tank. But then a local SeaCraft guy talked me out of putting a bracket on it because it changes the ride.
