What speed do you get with that 200?

When I bought the boat I thought with only a 200 it would be a dog. Far from it. A good crusing speed is 3600-3700 rpms. Boat is running about 22 kts while burning no fuel. Even with the top, yetis, fishing gear and 4 people, boat still gets up and goes. I would guess about 40mph wide open, 5500rpms medium load. Ran from the Boca Inlet to Palm Beach Inlet and back with 4 people and all the wife's BS, burned about 20-25 gallons all day. Boat holds 100 gallons.

BTW - I have been drooling at the wet sand job you did to your boat!! WOW!! I wonder if that could be done to my boat.? Ready for a weekend in Boca?

That's a common misconception, thanks to the inefficiency of modern hulls designed with a wide beam to support the weight of heavy 4-stroke motors and the high deadrise needed to get a decent ride with the wide beam!

Nowadays the average guy thinks even a 20 is underpowered if it doesn't have at least 200 hp, because they don't have a clue about how efficient the SeaCraft VDH bottom design is! When I tell 'em that a SeaCraft 20 works just fine with a LIGHT 100-130 hp motor, they think I'm nuts! Moesly proved that the VDH was 10% faster than conventional Ray Hunt-type deep-V hulls with the same weight and HP way back in the 60's at Mercury's Lake X! It had an unbeatable combination of soft ride and efficiency 50 years ago, and I'm frankly amazed that nobody has come up with anything better in all that time!
