HIN-where would it be found on a 20' SC if transom's been altered?

I'm looking at a 20' in Florida that has had the transom partially redone which is where I'm assuming the HIN is on the original boat, but the HIN is nowhere to be found. Seller has the title but to put the title in my name I believe the we need the hull ID # somewhere on the boat to do the pencil sketch as per Florida requirements.

Has anyone run into this and what can I do about it if the HIN is not attached to the boat in some way?

Thanks in advance.

What year is the hull?
Prior to 1973, the HIN was most often on the manufacturer's capacity decal, and on many Moesly hulls, also written in grease pencil on the starboard inboard stringer (for 4-stringer hulls) about 1-2' forward of the transom.
On my first Seafari, a 1969, it was also written on the inside of the fuel tank well. (It said "Hull # XX2). I have no way to know when that was done, though. It WAS the correct number.
