They made both outboard and I/O powered hulls.I have a 74 Tsunami with an I/O and the ride is as good as you read about.
Not sure what they made the most of back in the potter years in the Tsunami/Sceptre hulls but it seems like the the I/O models are more often the ones for sale. I'm sure some of the other more knowledgeable Seacraft gurus will chime in.
BTW Welcome to the site.

My 74 was/is outboard powered but we did some extensive floor and transom work to get rid of the gianormous engine well. Doing so made a huge difference in working room and access on mine and was well worth the process.

Good luck on acquiring the Tsunami. As far as I'm concerned it is the most underrated model out available.

You will like an outboard Tsunami. From experiance, kmooses sled rides darn well in very snotty conditions and the bowling alley deck space is just amazing. Of course, being able to get out of the wind and weather is another huge benefit.
