Need help setting up bunk trailer 20sf

Hello all,

I have a feeling this has been asked before, my search skills are lacking.

I have a '74 20'SF. The roller trailer that came with is too long, I acquired an easy-loader trailer that should fit perfectly.

I need help setting up the bunks for it. Thinking of using 3x lumber.

What angle does the bunk need to be?

Where would the best placement be? I'm thinking right under stringers?

Also, how long should I make the bunks?

Thanks in advance for any input you may have,

Scott

Get the roller trailer back.

Ha, thanks. I still have the roller trailer.

But the tongue is about 6' too long and the frame behind the axle is bent.

I could possibly swap the rollers over? But I'm not all that happy with the way it sits on the roller trailer.

Im not fond of roller trailers even tho they work good when set up correctly. Just to many parts to service and replace. To easy just to slap a set of bunks on one.
I would set the boards up on the middle panels tight to the first step so it will center the boat when driven on. The angle should match the angle of the hull bottom so it makes full contact. I would run the boards up about 3/4's of the boat if they will be on brackets and turned the flat ways but if stood up on end and cut on an angle I would maybe go half way and do a set to hold the bow up. Look at the trailer in Captain chucks picture he posted a days ago in a post about trailer bunk contact.

And if you screw some strips of starboard to the tops of the bunks the boat will slide on and off really easy. Roller trailers are too tall for the ramps here in Charleston in general. You'd have to back half your truck into the water.
