side image transducer mounting with OB bracket

Does anyone have any experience with mounting side scan transducer on a 23 with a bracket. I am about to finish up installing my new Hermco bracket and I am open to ideas as to where to mount the transducer to give the best imaging of both sides of the boat. I was thinking below the bracket but im not sure how much turbulence there will be in that area.

Any ideas or pictures would be great and again thank you for the input

I have lots of experience with the Garmin ducers and you need to go as low as you can. I have two recommendations depending on your situation. If your hull was an I/O originally I would buy a through hull gt series and mount it directly in the keel. If and O/B you don't have that option as you have a keel stringer. here is a pic of my GT 51 where it works the best. Yes it is directly in front of the motor and no it doesn't affect it at all.

I mounted my Garmin GT51 Below the bracket. Its about 4-6" up from the keel on the port side. It seems to work fine but its still real new to me.

Mine is a little to the left and up of where moose put his.

Bracket is a 30" fiberglass "Shrimpco" floatation bracket.

Just in case you were wondering about JJ's shrimpco . . . it's kinda like a Hermco, but not as nice b/c we used beer to cool the resin when it's curing :)

Kmoose - I like that position . . . I have the Humminbird side scan 998c unit. Will likely relocate to that spot . . . just worried about the beach

I mounted my totalscan transducer in the same spot as KMOOSE under my bracket. It works perfect. It holds bottom at all speeds. I have a 30" fiberglass bracket.
