GPS delay

I have a Garmin 492 GPS that now takes a long time to acquire and lock on to satellites. Probably 15 minutes. It used to do it very quickly. Is there a setting that I have set incorrectly or is the unit tired?

Try contacting Garmin about a Software Version upgrade. I had the same problem. They are good about their customer service.
I also replaced the antennae. It worked fine after for about year and then I replaced it.
I guess they get tired on purpose (built in time bug) so you have to get a new one.

Thanks Capt.

I agree with Capt Chuck - they helped me update software - but in the end, I had to buy a new unit because the lag was ridiculous… It pissed me off as the unit worked flawlessly once 'up and ready' but took 15 minutes to get initiated. I gave it to my brother who didn't mind the 15 minute startup ( he'd set it up the minute he got on his boat and by the time he got ready and to the end of his canal he was good to go ).

My older Garmin loads up faster after if I press the power and page buttons simultaneously until I agree turns yellow. Then release the power and page buttons and press enter to agree.

If I do not do that It will take forever to find satellites.

I spoke with Garmin and they told me they are no longer able to upgrade the 492. He recommended trying the auto locate option but that would be the only option. I followed the Power and Page button method, got the I agree page and when I pushed I agree it went to the home screen. There is an auto locate option on the menu and I tried it as well. So far it does seem better. I will keep in mind that I may need to push Power and Page every time I power up.
Thanks for all the comments.

Sounds like an internal battery on the antenna or unit is shot causing it to loose it's acquired status every time it is powered off. Make sure the time set to manual and keep it up to date.

The auto locate seems to have worked
