18 ft new 175df suzuki engine

I posted earlier in the spring I was putting a df 175 on my 18. The engine is a lil over weight
for the boat. I am running a 4 blade prop so its not that fast, WOT full fuel 2 people only 45.
Nice side of the engine planes at 2600 and stays there with a full load, 4 people food for a week luggage etc.
Need to raise the engine up, do you know if they can place a full transom over the original as I have no rot and transom is in good shape.

Doin 45 in an 18 with a full load sounds like a recipe for disaster. That's a lot of weight and not much waterline. Check your anti cav plate at speed. It should be above water. Your drive may be low but with all that weight I wouldn't expect much more from your combo. It's not a speed boat. Likely the least speed oriented of the potter hulls. Cool boat nonetheless.

I have the df 140 on mine and there is PLENTY of power. At 5900 rpm and trimmed out, I can achieve about 40 mph and that, my friend, is as fast as I want to go in this rig! Been making small adjustments as I go to combat the CG issue. Just raised the motor a few weeks ago to get the AV plate where it needs to be. Judging from what I have read here, it may go faster than I want it to, but, main objective is to improve the minimum planing speed. However, I haven't had the chance to test it yet. This Saturday is looking good, though!

Prop choice

Uncle Boo what prop do you have on your 140? I'm running a 140df on a light SF20 and I am looking at moving up to a 14X20. I'm in Oriental; fish Lookout Oct-Dec.

I'm running what came on it which is a 21 pitch 3 blade that, I believe, is 13-1/4". I know little about props and am pretty sure a lower pitch would help my issues. However, I can't just order props to try.

BTW, it is stainless.
