like to know the same question for a 74 23 sf???

1 1/2" has worked very well over the years on my 23 with rear scuppers hauling a big 4 stroke. Should be even better now that I'm going with side scuppers.

Id go at least 2 inches on a 20. from front to back.

Deck Height

I raised the deck of a 20' 1 1/2" plus the plywood I put on top bringing total height to 2" plus fiberglass. Boat had a 1999 Johnson 150hp. Deck was perfect at 2" height after using the "criss cross" scupper trick where the left side was plumbed right and the right side plumbed left.
