18'sf 1976 wet foam
 

Hey everybody, Pretty new to this whole forum thing. I have been looking around a good bit and haven't been able to quite find the answer to my question. I have an 1976 18'SF that had the transom enclosed and a 18" motor bracket platform added on. It definitely seems to ride low in the back, question is would moving my center console forward 6" or so help this out? and another thing ive noticed is that it rides just slightly lower on the starboard side when sitting in the water and im thinking the foam might be damp, is there any easy way to get to it and put new foam in?

What is the wet foam question?

Gonna depend on how far forward it has migrated. I've seen guys write about drilling a small hole near the bottom of the stringer to see if any weeps out. Pretty much need the floor out to put foam in.

the question is, if there is any way to tell if the foam is water logged and if so if there is any (easy) or simplified way to replace/refoam the stringers?

You are welcome. I presume you referred to the estimator. When I prepared the cg change estimator there was plenty of discussion on heavy four strokes on brackets. However, don't think it has received much attention. It can be found under Capt Terry posts with subsequent responses to wade through to get to it. A little time doing the math might avoid an undesirable outcome.
