1983 23ft advice/ideas

Hello, I have acquired a 1983 23' sea craft that is a cabin boat transformed (very shitily) into a center consol by previous owner. What they did was just cut the cabin and console off and left it. Any ideas what I can do with the left overs on the gunwales. Rod lockers? Storage? Cut them off flush and redo gunwales? Any ideas welcome

Another thing I was looking at was the deck it seems solid except 2 small soft spots one being over the gas tank. They had painted the deck with regular exterior paint and it is peeling off the wood leaving the wood exposed. It looks like some areas have really crappy fiberglass work and others have none except the edges. What is the best way to remover the plywood from the deck without removing the fiber glass going up to the hull?

Last question couldn't make out the tag on the fuel tank two numbers I can see is 125 and 144 but labels are all worn off

On the gas tank I would think that the numbers indicate it is .125 (1/8") Thick aluminum construction and holds 144 gallons.

Looks like the boat was used commercially for crabbing or lobstering?

I've no off shore fishing gear I'm going to need all I can get. Made some progress tonight got some more sanding done and themiddle of the deck separated where they had layer a very thin layer of fiberglass. I just ran a screw driver down and pulled their fiberglass right off
