20 Seafari I/O question

Hey guys. I have seen I/O 20 Seafaris powered with 140 Mercruisers which I assume is the 3 liter I-4 and even a 4.3 liter Mercruisers. What were the original engine and outdrive options? Thanks

If you go to the Literature section of the web site, there are some price lists that list various I/O options. I had a 1972 Seafari 20 and it had the 140 Mercruiser. However, they offered the 165 Mercruiser, as well as the 225 and 245 OMCs in 1974.

Thank you kindly, sir.. Are the 165 Mercs and the 225 and 245 OMC 6 cylinder blocks or are the OMC the small Ford V8's?

My recollection is the Merc 165 is the Chevy inline 6 and the OMC stringer mounts I/O 225 was the Chevy 307 small block and the 245 was the Chevy 350 SB. Never knew until now that they were offered in the 20'.

I have a 140 in my '69 20' and I have an extra 165 sitting in my shop. I don't think it will fit in my boat, due to length of the block, without mods. Not sure I'm ready to do that. That inline motor is really long.
