I have kids and granddaughters in Wimberley, TX and they had severe flooding a couple of years ago on the San Marcos River and this could be a duplicate. As I told them and to all our friends in Southern TX don't be a hero! Play it safe so you are not one of the "bad statistics"!!! Good luck!

Durango is nice this time of year. They got a steam train there. Go check it out.

We had 10 inches of rain with Frances over 24 hrs.

Possible 40 in places....

Harvey is looking really crazy, moderate to high storm surge that will last for not just one, but several days, maybe a week. Combine that with pancake flat land, millions of people and 10-35 inches of rain over several days. All that water trying to drain but blocked by the storm surge. We have never seen anything like that. The flooding is going to be insane. Be ready to help.

Which brings me to Florida. The same thing could happen here. My house is high, but high enough?

My buddy who lives near Houston just sent me this picture.
They have lived in this house for 32 years and have NEVER
had flooding. Now they have taken refuge in the attic as
the waters rise. This is serious business for sure.

Lots of rain. All roads flooded near me. Worst part is dodging the tornadoes. My house is dry but most near are not so lucky.
Many volunteers are out assisting people.
Water keeps coming...

I have been through my share of Hurricanes being
a born and raised Floridian... they come they go..
Never have we had one that just slowly drowns you. :(

Watching TV from Texas is making me sick...
Elderly folks that are up to their necks and cannot get out..
This storm is pure torture for the people there !

Makes me want to pack up and go help !!!

Ken, the real help locals will need is about a month out. I've responded with our company to assist in power restoration several times and it's almost to no avail until the professionals get ingress of emergency assistance in full swing. They will need help for a long time and a well planned and organized effort to those who have assessed needs offer the best opportunity for effective assistance. Let's talk about this at the gathering as I would also be on board to go. Maybe we have some SeaCraft brethren that could use some help getting their life back together.

We also have to consider the next big storm heading our direction. From the looks of things we could have a Cat 4 heading our way by the end of next week. Opportunity may be closer than we think unfortunately.
