Maine guys

Any folks near Castine Maine? My son is in school up there and has been looking for someone to hook up with to do some fishing. Being from NC, we hear how awesome the tuna fishing is up north and he's wanting to see what its all about.

I live in southern Maine - York. About 3 hours south of Castine.

Tuna season is now closed but it was a very good year. However, prices were low because the governing body allowed guys to bring in 4 fish per day in the first half of the season. At that time of year, the fish are skinny, so the market was flooded with poor quality fish and people were getting paid dirt.

On the way to take him up this year we had lunch in downtown Portland and were talking to an offshore lobster guy about that. They would tuna fish when not hauling lobster gear. I think the season had just closed. Said they we were getting $3-$4 per pound for the tuna.

Sorry for the derail...Ed-My wife's family owns Congdons donuts in Wells. How many SC brothers are up there? I plan on doing a Summer trip with the Sceptre up there soon! BA17-My son is in CT in college. It's cool to get them plugged in up there while at school and even spend some time up there.

Snookerd - there are some Seacrafts in Maine but no where near the number of Seacrafts that you will find 50 miles south in Massachusetts. Most "Mainahs" prefer a nice, cozy downeast style boat that sips diesel. Fortunately (or Unfortunately if you are paying the fuel bills) for me, I have the need for speed!

Snookered - Congdons Donuts is great! If I were a member of your family I would be 400lbs.

Ed-Yea, that side of the family is becoming described as “heavy set and big boned” these days!:D. Those donuts are not low cal. I would like to get to the Jazzfest in Newport around July 4th one year with the Sceptre. Years ago Trayder referenced that event as a place to anchor off with a boat.
