Restored 20's

Do you guys ever look at boattrader?
It's amazing what people are asking for some of these restored 20's.

Isn’t it. There’s also a bunch on Craigslist South Florida. A few are really nice and have a ton of $$$$ in them though, just not sure they will sell for 50-70 k.

I have never watched a new boat being built but I imagine there is a lot less work in that then in a total rebuild. My guess is at least double the hours, maybe more! Every part of a rebuild is a one-off, which takes a lot of hours.
I love to see when a true professional restores one of these old gems but I think, unfortunately, there is always going to be a disconnect between average market value and cost of goods sold. There just aren't that many buyers that are willing to pay $50K + for a rebuilt 1970 boat. Rebuilding old SeaCrafts is probably not the most profitable business model but I'm glad there is enough of a market to warrant a few exceptional restorations for us to drool over.

I was saddened to find the console from my old (sold 3 yrs. ago) 20SF for sale on RI craigslist. Recognized the turquoise dash and layout.

I picked up one this year for about the value of the engine. Completely rebuilt in Coosa.

Check out Metan Marine, they are out of Halifax, Ma. They have some youtube videos of restoring old 23 SC's that are pretty impessive. I am sure the restores costs are up there but the product looks incredible.

My favorite is the 23 Seacraft CC with a jackshafted yanmar diesel.

John, that particular boat was WIDELY discussed when it was at the NE Boat Show for something like $145k. It eventually sold but not for that much...

I see the asking prices but I wish I knew what price they actually traded for and lenght of time on market.
