23’ Inboard to Outboard...would it work?
 

I currently have a 23’ Inboard. The motor just took a dump on us and it’s looks to be a 15,000 replacement

We live in south Florida where a new outboard is more practical than an Inboard now days.

Question is would it work properly with the pocket tunnel? Or has it been done before?

I think you can make anything work. That said, that's a rare bird that deserves an inboard. not to mention, an outboard and bracket will be more than that $$$$ when you're finished.

sell it to a guy from the northeast and buy an ob boat. save yourself the time and money

When I was considering if I should repower my 78 inboard or not I had guys reach out to me that wanted to buy the boat as is - they are right - you might want to sell it as is and get the boat you want - besides, hate to see a rare boat go thru that kind of a change

You would need to pop a mold off a OB 23 to get the warped planes and Pad correct.

If you want to know if it would work, yes it would work but would require mods and likely a transom that would hold a bracket. The pocket would likely help some like a notched transom on a performance hull and allow a higher mounting height. Is it worth it? Likely not as they are a desirable hull for slowpokes and there is not many out there as already mentioned. Selling it as is would likely bring you the best value in return to go with an OB model.

X2 on KMoose....and up in the northeast we would rather have a cut transom than an I/O or a bracket, or an inboard.maybe not as rare ,but much more desirable here. they are built to run.we
wait in line for an outboard 23 superfish to redo and make like new.
