23 Project saved from the vineyard!

Thanks to the help of No Bones and Eric I was able to save this savage from a little vineyard near us. The boat was only registered for eight years, I washed the hull a little bit and it’s crazy the condition of the exterior, very minimal fairing before painting. The decks are solid as a rock so I’m going to try to keep them and the original non skid pattern. I’m going to do the transom and re core the cap then paint of course and add a bracket. Maybe single 300? Does anyone know the name of this color? I’d like to keep it as original as possible. It may take a while but here are some pictures to start!

I did some transom prepping yesterday and took some pictures, I plan to use 1 1/2” coosa with epoxy resin. Due to someone cutting it from the outside and the inside glass being thin and junk I decided to layer it all up on the outside, let that cure then cut out that inside layer and do all new inside glass. You’ll see in one of the pictures when I moved the cap to do some grinding it says “Show Boat.” Not sure what that was for maybe meant for a boat show but I thought it was cool.

Is she a factory Savage? If so you have a pretty rare bird.

Yes sir it is, I didn’t know so few had been made till I found the build numbers on here. And this is my second legitimate savage believe it or not. I guess I luck upon them.

Weekend work

I got the chance to do a lot this weekend, ground out the old core in the cabin floor and put new divinycell in. Time to grind and fair that out. Made all my tank beds and glassed the bottom tips before I tab them into the hull so they’re sealed for water to run under them. I pre fit the box that I cut out of the front to go in the back as floor storage, should be a nice big bin. I cut the floor straight from where the original tank hatch sat, straight forward another 3-4 feet so I can fit a 130 gallon tank in there. I thought I was gonna find rotten spots where the console was mounted but not a single rotten area, I can’t believe it but I’m not complaining.
