23' Casting Deck Hatch/Fish Box

Hey Everyone, during my rebuild pretty much the only thing i did not remove was the forward fish box hatch (under casting deck) and was wondering if the original was insulated (Potter Hull). I did cutout and replace the casting deck and vaguely remember foam around the edges between the hull and hatch interior but not really sure. I built a fish box in the floor behind my leaning post but when it has 40 gallons of fish and saltwater ice slush in it she starts to get heavy and would like use the front hatch for its original purpose.

Ripped mine out 1980's era, and there was no foam. I plan on adding it though during rebuild. Which is going ever so slowly.

My 73 was not insulated. I made a mold for a new one and used 1” foam to insulate it and the hatch cover. Had about 80lb of ice in it that I left in for a week . Ice had melted but water was still cold a week later in 90 degree weather

Here’s a picture of the liner out of my 23. Year is 1977. There was a little bit of insulation.
