Cleaning AwlGrip white non bottom paint
 

My 1977 Seafari painted Ice Blue hull sides and Oyster White top and bottom sides. Water line is dark with tannins from Hernando Beach canal. Mary Kate’s On/Off hull cleaner not cutting it mixed with small amount of water. Label says for fiberglass only (gel coat?). Not sure if I should go full strength. Any thoughts? TIA

If that does not cut it muriatic acid...:eek:
Try a small area first on the bottom, just be quick to rinse off with
fresh water, and stay away from any metal... :rolleyes:
I have used the muriatic on the "Bones" with the Fighting Lady Yellow Awlgrip with good results !

When you go to buy it just do not be buying batteries at the same time...
They will think you are making meth ! :eek::p

Wil also do the trick. Spray on full strength, in just a few minutes ""poof"" all gone. Less than $10 @ Homers, Lowes & Wallyworld.... I've used it for years. Works on sprinkler stains on the sidewalks etc. For us old geezzers, i bet you can gargle with it..

Thanks guys, I believe On/Off is muriatic acid. Been using it for 25 years on non bottom painted gel coat. Was concerned the AwlGrip would not stand up to it.

My neighbor came by last night with what appeared to be a gallon rectangle shaped plastic jug, put a sprayer on it and went to work. Spray, wait, gently rinse. Better than On/Off. Called Rust/EX and he bought it under $10 at Home Depot. Hull came out really nice.

On/Off is a blend of Hydrochloric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, and Oxalic Acid in a neutral suspension. It is MUCH stronger than Muriatic acid.

Use On/Off ONLY while wearing gloves, eye protection, and a respiratory mask of at least R97 rating. The manufacturer, Siloo, on the MSDS recommends using a chemical cartridge respirator while using On/Off in an environment where it may become aerosolized, such as in a breeze or windy conditions.

Believe them! I thought I was a goner the first time I used it...outside...in a slight breeze.
