Time to re-power

Hey guys looking for any input on re-powering. I have an 83 23' with a hermco bracket and enclosed transom. I currently have an 03 225 evinrude that I am beginning to lose faith in and instead of looking for a used engine I plan to re-power with a new G2. Do you guys think that a 300 is over kill? I have seen them rigged with the 300 but haven't had a chance to chat with any of the guys running them. Right now I feel that the boat is under powered for how I am usually running. I fish for tuna up in the NE so we usually have a couple hundred pounds of ice and a full 50 gallon live-well and 150 gallons of fuel, i like to keep the tank full to avoid condensation build up.

Been running a G1 300 since 2015 on an open transom - perfect power.

2.5 mpg @ 4000 (32 mph) very nearly 3 mpg @ 3700 (27 mph) Depending on conditions.

Same basic set-up here with 300 Yamaha. All happy so far but not much time on it. There's someone here that recently put the Suzuki 350 on and gets great numbers and performance!

Mazz,

Keep me in mind for the old motor. I think I am the guy that sent you to get it ;).

Funny how everyone on here uses the term repower but never says I need a "new boat". They say "next Seacraft " or "new to me Seacraft. " You guys are all addicts!
