Gents: On the 20 SF, in the forward fish box, particularly the drain area, does it rest right onto the inter hull? I'm speaking about the thru-hull drain. Thanks

My1968 did not. Was connected to thru hull with rubber tube. Not well done from factory. I cut a 6" access in the end of fish box next to drain to repair.

My 18 had a piece of plywood about 4" x 4" between the box and the hull with the drain fitting centered. I imagine they did all of them that way.

On my 18 there is Potter Putty against the hull and about a 1/2” gap if I remember correctly. When I bought it 27 years ago, I would get a lot of water in the bilge and found the flared copper thru-hull was loose. Even though it was above the water line, I removed it and the problem went away. I think the flex in the hull made it a weak spot. So I glassed it over and drained box to bilge. About to rework it during the rebuild.

Like mentioned, normally the flared threw hull is in a piece of wood between the two. May have potter putty between the two or around the wood block.

I do see a 4x4 plywood block up there as well. I don't use that space as a fishbox so draining to the bilge might not work for everyone. Think I will plumb a line back to where I can see it drain or plug it.

There was still some of the plywood was there, so I filled the void with 5200 and installed a larger cast bronze thru-hull fitting. I had to hone the inside of the fitting so a plug would seal up.
