Not a Seacraft build
 

So my sort of cheap Ash Craft skiff I picked up last week has taken a turn for the worst.

But again it?s a boat and we all know this song

While working on taking off the old rug I stepped hard and felt part of the deck crack from the softness of rotten wood.

So here I go again with a new floor job.

Today I took a saw and took out 1/2 of a stinking wet rotten deck and the stringers were toast also

It?s a small boat so it won?t be all that bad and since I do plan on fishing it hard it won?t be as pretty as the Seacraft

Took out the floor today, glad I decided to go with it

1/2 the floor and the stringers were mush also

Looks like it was not the first rehab as the floor was done really bad e en for my poor workmanship.
The undersides had no glass to protect it. The stringers were not fully glassed over and the outsides had no where for any water coming in to go to as the stringers went all the way back to the transom and it had strips of foam under the deck for "flotation"

Overall a real crappy job.

Looks like they made the deck "self bailing" why I dont know and tried to seal the undersides up but it was wet through out.

Next get the stringers done glass them in, lay the deck pour some foam underneath for flotation and stiffening ,roll some gelcoat then rig it

Is the hull oil canning much with the stringers out?

Ive taken a good look and it does not seem to be flexing.

I did leave the cap and rear on

Hopefully tomorrow the weather will cooperate and I can glass the stringer back on

Curious as to the best layup schedule for the stringers ??

So I have the stringer and floor cut and ready to be glassed in. The weather for the next few days will be colder than your typical South Florida days so I’m going to hold off till it warms up some.

I can’t imagine all you guys up north doing this in 40 and below temps...but that’s why I live down here.
