Sceptre Windshield gasket question
 

Sprucing up the windshield on my 1979 Sceptre and I know that the gasket that holds the glass in is TP-139 from Pompanette;
But has anyone replaced the gasket for the inside of the extrusion? The one that covers the wire chase for the wiper/nav light etc, and runs all the way around the inside?
Also anybody have a rough measurement for how many feet of TP-139 is required?
Boats wrapped and stored up here in the North East and don't really want to cut her open just yet for measurements.

Maybe TP-124? or TP-338?

I've replaced the windshield gaskets twice once on my 25 and the last time on my 20 Sceptre...both times I called American Marine directly and they did me up.

I measured a total of 874 inches for the window glazing so I ordered 80 feet just to be safe. I probably need the wireway cover and gasket for the opening sections but forgot to get that info/order those. I should be by my 23 later today if I can get to it through the snow...:eek:

It looks like the wireway cover is TP-124; I measured 145".
The gaskets on the center and helm opening sections look like they might be the TP-370 profile but since it was 22 degrees and the gasket is flat and super stiff, I couldn't get good measurements and probably won't be able to until it warms up - June/July. My '370?' gasket is black but apparently they don't make that profile in black now. Not sure what I'm going to do there.

Snow was knee to waist deep - pretty sure boat is 'not happy'. At least there was not much in the cockpit.

Better to have extra..but the stuff aint cheap if I remember right...They also have the window stud bolts if you need some of those as well. Talk about a company thats been around a long time.

The fella I got some window frames from told me I could use the T studs used on RV toilets. I assume they are brass.

Don’t forget the 1/8” double faced foam glazing tape to put down on the frame before you lay the glass in. There is some nuances in getting this done. It’s a little to long an explanation to type on my phone but feel free to shoot me your contact if you haven’t done this before.

In the process of replacing all the window spline in the Seafari project..
TP-139 works on the all the windows except the cabin windows.
That was a Prime window spline of which is no longer available..:(
Had to go with a close match that worked.. Ask me how I know..
Have 3 spools of spline cannot use that I ordered..
TP-124 in white works on the wire chases on the backside of the windshield
which came from American Marine in New Hampshire.
Nell is the customer service rep that I dealt with..
Be prepared to have a fat wallet before you take this on.

Replacing the acrylic windows on the side and cabin and all window spline,
came close to $700 clams....
