Gelcoat Matching
 

I know there is no definitive way to do this as years, sun/fade etc - BUT, does anyone have a decent baseline of colors that make up a match ?

I find matching to be so damn hard to do !

The white on my 23 is very close to the polyester Dusky White from Fiberglass Coatings:

They make it in spray and brushable mixtures. It is also tintable if you need to make small adjustments.
I originally intended to use polyester gelcoat, but am now trying to track down a good vinylester gelcoat in the right color. LBI has an off white that I am interested in but haven't spent the money to check color yet.

Matching the original red on my hull is pretty much impossible since it has faded to about 10 different shades in different places and even wet sanding does not get it uniform.

Flex - thx for response. I’m limited with using gelcoat for finish work. I want to start with an ounce of white gel coat and systematically add add colors to get what I need to match. Hoping for a baseline from someone who has done it - do I need yellow, brown ? etc.

Frenchs` yellow mustard color.

Go fast - so.. yellow, or are you being funny ? Can't tell.
