23 with 200 Prop Choice ?
Question -
My brother bought an imposter SeaCraft 23 - a Palm Beach. He's running a 200 yam 4 stroke with a standard prop that came with the rig ( not sure of model ) and at 5600 RPM's is hitting 32 mph. Is this the right prop ? Or is there a better option ? Know 200HP is light in power, but thought it would do better than that. Thx |
Not sure on the right prop, but I was looking at the specs on the 200 in lines and it says wot 5000-6000, the same as my 225. One thing I noticed is the recommended fuel, 89 octane. Different than my 225 at 87 octane.

First, make sure the motor height is right. Very often they are too low by a notch or two. I wouldn't go spend money on another prop before you know height is right.

I agree, the motor is probably to low. We had a 200hp on our 23' Sceptre in the past and it easily ran in the high 30's (mph). The RPM's look about right.

OK - I will have him check it out. Is there a specific measurement ?
His impression for the ride on this SC knock-off was holy sh*t ! He was out in The Bay in some 2'-3', short- chop and was floored how it cut through without getting wet. Obviously not built like one of our classics and it will not last like ours, but the hull is a SC design and has the ride... |
So does he use 87 or 89?
