It's real. No sign that they're looking to sell off the Evinrude name and patents, either.

Yup, read a little on tht this morning. Any idea on whether new parts prices will stay the same, or do they go up when this sort of thing happens?

damn, was about to pull the trigger on a 150 G2 for my 20SF project. i guess thats a no go now

EarToTheWater 05-28-2020 09:04 PM

Imagine if you had pulled the trigger last week? Maybe you can deal on one they say they're still honoring warranties, and will continue to make parts... but maybe if you wait a little while maybe you can get 3 or 4 G1's for the cost of a new g2. Have 2 or 3 parts motors :D

I see Mercury Marine has contracted to provide dealer support as well as customer support.

Is it dumb to try to get a 90HP ETEC for my 20 MA? I wonder how much longer my '99 Yamaha F100 will last

Xcomunic8d 03-09-2021 04:22 AM

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one. Some good deals to be had. I’d make sure you had a good local servicer and not get anything you’ll never get parts for. But those things last and last.

JBASS02 03-09-2021 11:49 AM

I have been really happy with my Etec 90 on my 20'. I hope there aren't any issues with getting parts in the future, from everything I've read there shouldn't be.
