Leaky Sceptre cuddy hatch hinge
Anyone come up with a good fix for rainwater entering the cuddy cabin via the overhead hatch hinge?

The original design has a vinyl hinge cover

"The original design has a vinyl hinge cover" 77SceptreOB, how was the vinyl attached? On the outside, or inside?
Erebus, that would work :-) I have a full cover, but usually only put it on if I know I'm not going to be taking the boat out or working on it for awhile, because it's a bit of a PITA. |
Cut a piece of off white vinyl the the width of the hatch, enough to cover the hinge end to end. The width of the vinyl should be about the width of the open hinge.
Remove hinge. The idea is that the vinyl covers the top of the hinge and you will sandwich the vinyl between the teak and hinge, screwing through the vinyl Screw one side of vinyl into place under the hinge. When doing other side, vinyl should by snug along top of hinge when hatch is closed... Works great. |
