Question for K MOOSE
 
With the bulkhead extended back......did it affect the boat's balance & performance, and if so, how did you adjust to get it just right ?

Folks get way too wrapped up with CG on a 23’ foot boat. First, Tsunami configuration is already weight forward compared to a CC so my mod didn’t impact weight shift that much compared to the addition of the bracket. The fuel tank was moved forward slightly but fuel weight isn’t static so it varies throughout the day. The biggest weight distribution factor on a small boat is trip loading (ice, gear, people, etc.). This is why I left the port deck clear to place my 250qt cooler anywhere it needs to be to compensate the days particular load. People load is the biggest factor that can be easily adjusted by where they sit or stand while running. Any other weight issue can be adjusted withe the tabs. Again, fixating on static CG on an empty 23’ narrow hull is the least of considerations unless you are hanging too much weight on the stern causing deck draining issues.

I believe yours the only I’ve seen with bulkhead pushed back so it’s interesting....and sure looks good.

I know it's a focal point for many and understand it can rub some feathers the wrong way but for me it is such a fluid point regardless of how much science goes into it on a small boat. Too many times I have seen CG concerns dominate how someone wants to lay out a re-build leading them to compromise unnecessarily.

I do agree that CCs and 25 Seafaris require extra consideration and that is one of the reasons I like the Sceptre/Tsunami platform so much.

CG, CG, CG, Sometimes over-emphasized, but not always. I'd disagree on the 20 seafari CG being a non-issue. Put too much weight in the stern, bracket an outboard, etc and that boat will fall off a plane at 15 kts+. In a little boat, that REALLY makes a difference when its rough. That holds even if you load it heavy forward (personal experience)

Mostly Moose is right. Most boats, loaded so they are close to a good CG, and they will perform just great. Even the 25 Seafari, which is sensitive to CG, performs just fine when the CG is off. It just performs much better if the CG is right.
