Question on trailer lenth
 

I think I may have a smoking deal on a used dual axle aluminum trailer that can handle a 25ft boat. My thoughts were to get this and put my 20 on it for the moment. Then when I get the new trailer for the 20 I have the trailer for the 23.

Thoughts on using the big trailer on the 20?

I run my 20 on a trailer that will fit a 23-25' boat. I like it due to the fact it is heaver built and gives me more room to protect the bracket/outboard. I have a dually so it likes the weight forward on the trailer and the end of the vertical board supports runs past the bracket so only part of the outboard is hang past the end of the trailer. My vertical board supports are cut from 6 1/2" x 20" x 20' beams (angled to match the hull bottom) so if a car hits the rear of the trailer it will hopefully not damage more than the outboard. Most trailers pull better with the boat forward having more weight on the truck but it is also a good idea to try and center the weight on the axels if you have a light truck. Great thing about having a larger trailer is you can always pick up larger project hulls and they still fit. A smaller trailer will only carry a small boat. May not be a bad idea to size the trailer accordingly but I have always liked having bigger trailers and adjusted the bunks to fit what ever I was loading on it. It make it more versatile, heck I have 30 foot sheet metal roofing on my 32 foot boat trailer right now for my next shelter project...

The trailer that they said was great was a POS . When I saw it I stayed about 30 seconds looking at before I left.

Not to thread hijack, but what weight capacity trailer is needed for a 23'?

Normal is 7000#capacity, two 3500# axles, torsion is the way to go, and you are good!!

I bought my last trailer from Charleston Trailer in Charleston, SC. They build great trailers on a custom basis and sell direct to the public. So no dealer mark up. They don't build a cheap trailer, but I found they were a good value.
