Side vs Rear Scuppers
 

I've been planning to do side scuppers with rubber flaps however I'm starting to second guess that plan. Does anyone have plus and minuses regarding the topic. The disadvantage of transom scuppers is loss of bilge space and more work to route through bilge area.

I've raised my decks ~2" so I think I'll have plenty of height for side scuppers, however I've never been on a smaller boat with them and don't often see smaller boats with them.

I liked how "Kmoose" did his out the side. Very efficient. Search for his build.

Alright I'm stumped. I have searched for Kmoose's build that is referenced above but can't seem to find it. If I look at all posts by Kmoose it gives me 20 pages worth but doesn't go back as far as his build. Does anyone have a link or a clue how to find his build?

Kinda tricky to explain and I'm not sure if it's factory installed. On my 23 there is a "pocket" 3" x 3" about 1" below the deck where the water collects and then goes about 2" down through a 3/4" pvc 90 and then out he back. If I went out the side using the pocket as the lowest spot I would gain about 2" to maybe 3". I'd do like Ken, out the side with a clamshell to keep water out when running. With 3/4 to full fuel and the new heavier engine the pvc drain out the transom is now always below the water.

I have them on my Egret 189...just round thru holes...work great ...way above the water line...I have some large plugs in my emergency kit just in case I ever need them and doubt I will..if I were to do them on a seacraft...I’d copy what Dirt has done.
