Center console door
 

Looking at putting a starboard door on the center console. Could go the traditional way with 2 doors opening outwards. Or I've see some that come in 2 parts where one gets removed and leaves the lower one in place like the picture attached.

What are the pro's and con's?

I like that console. Do you recall what brand of boat that was on?

I hate Starboard Jorge. It warps. Try PVC board. Easy to seal and it cuts, sands, & paints like wood.

Will look into it with my local guy

Go with whatever is easier to climb into for when you inevitably have to re-wire or replace fuses/batteries.

Is that not a hinge I see between the upper and lower parts. Looks like it works like the teak one on my boat.

The style you have shown is easy to remove so to gain access to the inside of the console and gets my vote.

I'm thinking of going that way . Years ago I have a 25 [Oceanic that had the barn doors on the console and it was somewhat inconvenient to get things out and was always I the way of my feet and leaning post.

I'm also going to be doing the anchor hatch and the rear hatch.
Thinking of adding some kind of trim piece along the bottom of the gunnel?? On the inside of the boat

Got thinking.....and I know that could be a dangerous thing...
I saw someone here that on one of his hatches he had a Seacraft VDH cutout that not only looked great but also serves as air circulation for the compartment.

Something like this Bertram Logo but with the Seacraft VDH

Has anyone seen that and does someone have the drawing I can present to the guys making the hatches?
