Fuel funnel with water separator
 

With all the issues with fuel having all sorts of crap in it, has anyone used one of these fuel filter funnels?

Anyone have real world results?

I bought one and it can't hurt to try it out

I bought one off of Amazon. Works great. Pour water into it and see what happens.

Google “Mr. Funnel”, they’re available multiple places. Filters down to 10 microns, which stops water.

Bought, one and used it . Amazing to see what came out from pump gas yesterday. I think I'm going to be using it from now on.

And that is exactly why I will be installing a fuel polishing system (kinda like the Racor P510MAM, but for gasoline - I may have to make one myself). That way it doesn't slow down filling and I can 'polish' the fuel while I run and/or after every fillup. My tank will have a dedicated pickup from a small sump in the bottom so I can get the junk to the polishing filter. I am probably going to have a connection on the pump/filter outlet so it also functions as a transfer pump - makes for an easy way to get at the 100 gal there if I need it for something else.
But first I have to get back on the rails after this 2020 BS and finish the boat...

I’m going to try this. The poor quality of fuel we have now is really frustrating.

A friend tried to sell me on one of these to no avail. They remind me of those ear candles sold in the flea market. A good, drainable Racor with a stainless mount will provide all the gas fuel polishing you will ever need in a lifetime of boating if regularly maintained. I would also be against creating a more complicated fuel delivery system on a presumption fuel quality is substandard or beyond the capabilities of what a good Racor marine filter will accomplish. Keep tanks full of non-ethanol fuel, use quality fuel stabilizers, and check/maintain you primary filter regularly.

Diesel on the other hand can be subject to algae growth and other contaminant ingress that can require more vigilant efforts if stored long periods.
