Navatek (BigFluke) news
KTC's post reminded me of this article from the summer.

You certainly can see the VDH influence in his boats. Nice video...wondering what they are powering them with now.

Did Steven ever post the results of the 25 they were testing with an outboard? Seems I read they we’re going to put a 250 on a bracket. I tried sending a pm. I’ve got my eye on one for a new build and would like to get a plan together if I pull the trigger.

On the outboard hull, two different outboards were tested a 300hpdi and an ETEC (300??). My source said they eventually broke the porta bracket launching the boat with the ETEC. I don't know the top end, but I know they wrote a Matlab program to monitor a bunch of sensors (including speed). Supposedly they picked up some speed on the top end when they added steps to that hull. Hawaii has huge swells and nasty wind chop. The job was to collect data at all different speeds in different configurations, then make modifications to the hulls and retest. |
