1999 21 Seacraft

I am look at a 1999 21 Seacraft with a
1999 Mercury Optimax 200hp with approx 900 hour
Is there any problem that I should know about the boat before possibly buying.

I don't want to sound like so many of the Optimax haters on the internet because I really liked the 225 that came with my '98 23', when it was working. I know why would I say something like that? Because those motors are lightweight, powerful, quiet and very fuel efficient. Some of the early ones were problematic though, if you get a good one they're a nice motor. As far as the boat goes, I've heard that the 21 is a 23 with two feet cut off, you shouldn't have any issues with the hull. I think they were built with all the same materials as the 23's of that era, which means no wood anywhere. I would take into consideration the hours on and the age of that motor in negotiating the price. Do some research on it.

I looked at a few 21's. There seems to be some consistent history of deck stress cracks or crazing and also a fuel fill hose interference or under deck crimping issue. Most I spoke with were either unhappy with the deck bait well or removed it.
