Picked a new wrong engine today

Picked up a really nice 2000 Johnson 115 today on the cheap. The guy was moving and his former roommate left a few years ago and this guy wanted it gone. Great compression, came with the harness and controls all in nice condition. Was thinking of this for my Checkmate project that's moving along. All was well untill I looked up the model number to order a few parts and it's a 25 inch shaft and I need a 20 inch shaft. So my options are sell the engine or find a donor mid section and swap it out.

Sucks for me but I'm not into it for a lot of money

Thinking the boat came with a jack plate.

When I picked up the checkmate it did come with a jack plate but I sold it. From what I have seen and researched a jack plate would work but it wouldn't bring the engine up the 5 inches needed and it would cause undue streets on the transom being up higher.

I'm still pretty far away from putting any engine on the boat so I'm going to get the boat further along 1 st.

I did see a guy selling a 20 midsection and a blown lower locally for $200 but wonder if that would work. My engine is a 2000 ocean pro and his is a 2005 ocean pro???

Am picking a mid section and lower with working trim for $150 today came from a 2002 oean pro similar bto mine. The lower is shot but my mechanic says to swap out mine and replace the shaft with the 20 inch. Nice that it was sitting less than 2 miles from me.

Picked up the mis section today and got it with working trim for $125. Before I went I had some doubt and I rechecked the compression again and was pleasantly surprised all 4 we're at 125. Looks like I'm going to need a new solenoid and a carb rebuild kit and some various other small items.

Get an OEM carb kit w bowls please or sand the bowls flat on glass.
